HAYS, Kan. -- Jeanne Quinn, a highly acclaimed international installation artist working with ceramics, will host an installation workshop at Fort Hays State University on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Quinn's works have been featured in numerous museums, including an exhibit now showing at the Denver Art Museum, said Linda Ganstrom, professor of art and design at FHSU.
Quinn is a professor at the University of Colorado, one of the leading graduate ceramic programs in the United States, said Ganstrom.
Workshop participants are asked to bring a hundred of something -- yesterday's newspaper, paper clips, bobby pins, Christmas lights or anything else.
"If you can create your own unique, artistic hundred somethings, so much the better," said Ganstrom.
The workshop will be in the ceramics lab in Rarick Hall, room 123, from 9 a.m. until noon. Installation work at 1010 Main, the Hays Art Council Auxiliary space, will run from 1:30 to 5 p.m. A lecture free to the public begins at 7 p.m. in the art history room in Rarick Hall, room 114.
A $50 fee applies for participants who are not enrolled as FHSU ceramics students. To register, contact Ganstrom at 785-628-4273 or email lganstro@fhsu.edu.
