Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art hosts exhibitions throughout the season

HAYS, Kan. -- A new season has begun at the Department of Art and Design's Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art in Fort Hays State University's Rarick Hall, room 102.
The David Lobdell Exhibition, sponsored by the Creative Arts Society, is on display until Sept. 23. Lobdell lives and works in Las Vegas, N. M., where he teaches sculpture and art history at New Mexico Highlands University. The exhibit consists of sculptural works of various materials, including fabricated steel, paper, cast iron, bronze and found objects. The work speaks of modes of communication from the modern era to the past.
The Lavielle Collection Exhibitionwill be in the gallery from Oct. 7 to Oct. 28. A reception is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7.
Bachelor of Fine Arts students will show their work in the Studio Exhibition, opening Nov. 4 and running until Dec. 2. A reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4.
From Dec. 9 to Jan. 27, the Annual Art Faculty Exhibition,will bein the gallery. The opening reception is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9. This exhibition is part of the Winter Gallery Walk.
Kicking off the spring gallery season, the Interior Design ASID Exhibition will begin with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. The exhibit runs until Feb. 24.
From March 2 to March 16, the Graphic Design BFA Exhibition will be on display. The reception begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 2.
The Annual Student Honors Exhibition will be from April 6 to April 20. The opening day reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 6.
An exhibition of the work of Ron Michael will open Friday, April 27 and run until May 18. It is sponsored by the Creative Arts Society. This exhibit is a part of the Spring Gallery Walk. The reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 27.
The summer 2012 season will see three graduate student exhibitions, starting with Leslie Falcon's MFA Thesis Exhibitionfrom May 22 to June 1.
Adam Elliot MFA Thesis Exhibitionis from June 4 to June 15. This exhibit is a part of the Summer Gallery Walk.
Finishing out the season is the Casey Stueber MFA Thesis Exhibition from June 22 to July 13.
Each of the graduate exhibitions has a closing reception from 7 to 9 p.m. on the last day of the exhibit.
