FHSU Alumni Association hires student interns for communication, legislative posts

HAYS, Kan. -- The Fort Hays State Univeristy Alumni Association has welcomed aboard two new student workers for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Braden Dreiling, Hays sophomore, is the govenmental relations student liaison and Kendra Callihan, Abilene graduate student, is the marketing intern.
Dreiling is majoring in political science with an emphasis in pre-law. He is a 2010 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School, Hays. He is the executive webmaster of the Fort Hays Honor Society and serves as a senator in the Student Government Association.
Dreiling will work closely with the Alumni Association to implement and maintain an effective legislative support network. Responsibilities will consist of building a website for the network; coordinating educational workshops; facilitating and attending meetings and events with members of the legislative community; engaging in legislative research; and tracking legislation that could impact higher education in Kansas and at FHSU in particular.
Callihan is a graduate student majoring in organizational communication with plans to graduate in May 2012. She received her Bachelor of Arts in communication with emphasis in public relations from FHSU in May 2010. She has worked with Hays community members on various strategic projects to help increase awareness, and implement innovative business and communication strategies.
Callihan will work with the Alumni Association to aid in its communication efforts and help to implement a social media marketing plan to promote alumni events, programs, and membership opportunities. She will also help build email brochures, support various alumni events and assist the Membership and Marketing Committtee of the board of directors.
The Alumni Association was established in 1916 to serve the needs of Fort Hays State University graduates throught the United States and the world.
