HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University's Dr. Carrol Haggard, associate professor of communication studies, co-wrote a case which was published in the September issue of the Journal of the International Academy of Case Studies.
The JIACS is a double-blind, peer-refereed journal which publishes classroom teaching cases, with instructor's notes, on subjects which are taught in business schools.
The case, "Stoneham County: The Impact of Public Policy on Wind Power Economic Development," was written by Patricia Lapoint, professor of management at McCurry University, Abilene, Texas, and Haggard.
"The case examines the economic impact of wind farms and the role of public policy debate in making decisions regarding the placement of wind turbines," said Haggard.
"My colleague, Dr. Lapoint, and I have been writing cases for years, which I use for my small group communications class," said Haggard. "We picked this particular area because it is a relevant contemporary issue, which has been discussed here in Hays, and there was a wind farm located very close to Dr. Lapoint's scenic property."
