HAYS, Kan. -- Students from the Department of Teacher Education at Fort Hays State University will be awaiting the arrival of about 220 children from surrounding elementary schools and local daycares for the Fall Story Festival from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13.
The festival will be in the Fort Hays Ballroom and Black and Gold Room of the Memorial Union. The children will rotate between six of the 15 available sections, listening to a different story each time.
To prepare for the festival, students read the book in advance, decorated their individual sections and created an activity that illustrated the book.
The festival is held once each semester as a part of a children's literature course in the teacher education degree program.
