Wind ensembles, choirs concert set for Friday at FHSU

HAYS, Kan. -- A concert featuring six soloists and the Fort Hays State University wind ensembles and choirs will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center in Sheridan Hall on the FHSU campus..
Soloists will include FHSU faculty Dr. Ivalah Allen, assistant professor of music and theatre; Dr. Joseph Perniciaro, assistant professor or music and theatre; and Dr. Terry Crull, assistant professor of music and theatre. Special guest soloists are Emily Ptacek and pianists Dr. Irena Ravitskaya, assistant professor of music and theatre, and Pam McGowne, staff accompanist for the Department of Music and Theatre.
The band and choir will perform music by Brahms, Palestina, Whitacre and Williams, along with the premiere of "Requiem 9-11," written by Dr. Jeff Jordan, assistant professor of music and theatre and director of bands, to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attack.
Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, and free for children under 12 and FHSU students with a Tiger ID.
