Changes made to FHSU's Keenan Memorial Scholarship

HAYS, Kan. -- The Political Science Department at Fort Hays State University made changes to the Andrew Keenan Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding Political Science Majors in an effort to support junior, senior or Master of Liberal Studies students who are continuing their political science studies at FHSU.
Following the untimely death of FHSU alumnus Andrew Kerr Keenan in 2004, family, friends, and faculty in the department created a memorial scholarship. The scholarship originally provided funds to an outstanding graduating pre-law student, assisting them with their studies at the law school of their choice.
Selection is based upon how the recipient embodies the qualities exhibited by Keenan while he was a student at FHSU. The scholarship recognizes academic excellence as evidenced by GPA and other performance.
The scholarship rewards student potential for ongoing leadership based upon outstanding service at the department or university level or in the larger community. The scholarship committee will look for students who possess the sort of humanitarian spirit and integrity of character that Keenan demonstrated.
Individuals interested in contributing to the fund are welcome to contact the FHSU Foundation at 785-628-4620.
