FHSU to host Red Balloon Project workshop and luncheon; features well-known educational speaker

HAYS, Kan. -- Anya Kamenetz, senior writer at Fast Company Magazine, will speak at a luncheon presentation and workshop called the Red Balloon Project at noon Thursday, April 12, in Fort Hays State University's Memorial Union.
Kamenetz writes the column "Life in Beta," about change in education, for Fast Company Magazine, and has written several books, including "Generation Debt" and "DIY U: Edupunks, Edupreneurs and the Coming Transformation of Higher Education."
She was named the 2010 Game Changer in Education by Huffington Post and received 2009 and 2010 National Awards for Education Reporting from the Education Writers' Association. Kamenetz was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in feature writing by the Village Voice in 2005.
The Red Balloon Project was launched by The American Association of State Colleges and Universities. Its focus is to help member institutions re-imagine undergraduate education. The goal is to provoke thinking about the future of higher education.
