HAYS, Kan. -- Up 'Til Dawn's "Super Canning Event" will raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at various local businesses.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis,Tenn., is one of the world's premier pediatric cancer research centers. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.

"While at a conference at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis we had the chance to learn about different side events put on by Up 'Til Dawn organizations across the country," said Megan Colson, Hays senior and Up 'Til Dawn Executive Director. "We heard about a school that has a Super Canning event in which they solicited monetary donations while standing at different 'busy' areas or businesses around their town. We really loved the idea of this and wanted to see how it would work in Hays, Kansas"

Volunteers will wear bright colors or FHSU Up 'Til Dawn T-shirts carrying decorated cans and at locations along Vine Streetat Dillons, Walgreens, Kwik Shop and The Mall of Hays.

Up 'Til Dawn organizers hope to raise $2,000 for St. Jude's.
