HAYS, Kan. -- The Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus will hold a concert at 7 p.m in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the Fort Hays State University campus on Saturday, June 9.

The 300-person chorus has performed both nationally and internationally. Most of the singers are Kansas natives, but several members are from different states and a variety of denominations. They also represent a wide range of ages, occupations and professions who come together out of their love for music, fellowship, concern for the hungry and to communicate Christian faith through choral singing. Their mission is summed up by the theme, "We sing that others may live."

The chorus is in its 44th season, having performed in Wichita, North Newton and Lindsborg. The choral group is under the direction of Greg Bontrager, choral music director of the Buhler USD 313. Stephen Vincent, assistant organist and choral director at the First United Methodist Church, Wichita, is the accompanist. Vincent is also a member of the adjunct music faculty at Tabor College, Hillsboro. The program includes accompaniments by the Menno Brass and other soloists or ensembles.

The event is free, but all proceeds from a free-will offering will go to the Mennonite Central Committee, a relief agency of Mennonite and Brethren churches. To date, more than $625,000 has been raised through these concerts and CD sales.
