HAYS, Kan. -- October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month, and Fort Hays State University's Women's Leadership Project will host The Red Flag campaign and its second Domestic Violence Summit.

The campaign is centered on encouraging friends to "say something" when they see warning signs or red flags for dating violence.

A series of eight posters around campus create awareness of dating violence. Each poster represents a different theme: coercion, emotional abuse, sexual assault, victim-blaming, excessive jealousy, isolation and stalking.

The Domestic Violence Summit is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the Memorial Union.

Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. The first break-out session is from 9 to 10:15 a.m., followed by the second break-out session from 10:30 to 11:45. Participants can choose from six breakout session topics at registration. Lunch break will be from noon to 1 p.m.

After lunch, Lundy Bancroft, author of four books on domestic violence, will direct a session from 1:15 to 3:30 p.m. and will host a speaker's forum from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Conference fees are $65 for individuals, $40 for students and $55 for groups of four or more. Fees include a $10 meal ticket to the Memorial Union food court and all conference sessions.

Registration after Wednesday, Oct. 10, will be $5 more.
