HAYS, Kan. -- To show high school juniors and seniors what to expect at Fort Hays State University, the Leadership Studies Department will host Shadow Day on Thursday, Nov. 8.
The day will start at 10 a.m. at a meeting the Leadership Studies faculty. Students will next attend the LDRS 300: Introduction to Leadership Concepts course with a student mentor. Student mentors are organizational leadership majors who have been selected by faculty.
While students are in class with mentors, parents will meet with financial aid advisors.
Students and parents will have a free lunch with their mentors in McMindes Dining Hall at 11:30 a.m. A campus tour is scheduled at 1 p.m.
To end the day, leadership studies faculty and students will have a question and answer time at 2 p.m.
"This is the second year for shadow day in the Leadership Studies Department," said Reagan Ochs, Grainfield senior. "I started this program because when I was in high school I visited another university who did Shadow Day and it helped me decide on the right major for me. It also helps seeing what a typical day as a FHSU student is about, sort of behind the scenes."
