HAYS, Kan. -- From 250 to 300 high school juniors and seniors and community college students and their families are expected to attend Tiger Day on Saturday, Nov. 3, to take a closer look at the opportunities available at Fort Hays State University.
"Tiger Day is an event for prospective students to visit the FHSU campus to learn what we have to offer," said Tricia Cline, director of admissions. "Students will go on a tour of campus, hear from current students, visit the academic departments, and learn about organizations and activities at FHSU. This is a great way for them to learn why Fort Hays State would be a great fit for them and to see what life as a Tiger is all about."
The day will start with registration at 8:15 a.m. in the Memorial Union. An academic/ co-curricular fair in the Fort Hays Ballroom, from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., gives students the opportunity see all the organizations and departments FHSU has to offer.
The welcome and first speaker will start at 9:30 a.m. in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center, in Sheridan Hall. Admissions staff will have a presentation at 10:15 to talk about scholarships, tuition, a checklist of what students need to do, deadlines and the opportunities available at FHSU.
Students will visit the academic department that they are interested in as a major at 11 a.m.
A student panel will answer any questions that students or parents have about FHSU and classes at 11:45 a.m.
The day will end with the football game against Central Missouri at 2 p.m. at Lewis Field Stadium. Tickets are free for students attending Tiger Day.
"We want students to experience the great atmosphere the FHSU has to offer," said Cline. "Not only do we have the lowest tuition rate among the Kansas Board of Regents institutions, but our high quality of academics, amazing student life and the endless opportunities set us apart from all other institutions that students may look at."
