HAYS, Kan. -- Linda Ganstrom, professor of art and design at Fort Hays State University, curated and organized the exhibit "Ecumene: Global Interface in Contemporary American Ceramics" at Santa Fe Community College School of Art and Design, Santa Fe, N.M., this past fall.

"Ecumene" was a national juried exhibition developed and sponsored by the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) to run with the fifth general assembly of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC).

The exhibit showcased contemporary America ceramics to international leaders in the field of ceramics. It was curated and organized by Ganstrom, NCECA exhibitions director, along with Santa Fe Community College's Director of Exhibitions Clark Baughan, James Marshall, SFCC's associate professor of ceramics, and Jane Sauer, curator of the Jane Sauer Gallery in Santa Fe.

Ganstrom served as a juror and helped select the exhibit's 32 works from the 700 works submitted.

The "Ecumene" exhibit offered pottery, clay sculptures, porcelain and concrete works among other types of ceramic art work reflecting the ever-changing globalized world.

The IAC is an organization representing the interests of ceramists worldwide and consists of individual makers, supported by writers and critics, museum and gallery curators, and private collectors.

NCECA was founded in 1966 as a non-profit organization that provides valuable resources and support for individuals, schools and organizations with an interest in the ceramic arts.
