HAYS, Kan. -- KFHS, campus radio, TV and Web station at Fort Hays State University, has created a new show titled "Tiger Idea Commons," (TIC), focusing on ideas for life.

Inspired by the well known TED talks, presenters can give a presentation in 15 minutes or less about whatever they choose from any non-commercial, non-political or non-religious topics. The long-term goal of the show is to collect a body of presentations from the perspectives of thinkers on the FHSU campus and community.

TED, the idea behind TIC, is a nonprofit devoted to the concept of "ideas worth spreading." It began in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three different worlds: technology, entertainment and design.

"As long as presentations stay within boundaries of common decency and don't blatantly cross into commercial, religious or partisan political territory, we'll run TV, radio and Web versions of all recorded talks," said Ron Rohlf, instructor of informatics.

TIC is currently booking presenters for the spring 2013 semester. FHSU faculty, staff, students and area citizens are welcome to participate.

The talks will be released in the Creative Commons and freely distributed on the Internet. PowerPoint presentations and other visual aids can be used.

"Hopefully, some of these ideas take on lives of their own," said Rohlf. "If one of our shows helps a single person along life's journey, it'll all be worth the effort."
