Interior Design Exhibition
Vignettes and student projects will be on display at the Fort Hays State University American Society of Interior Design Chapter Exhibition, which opens from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art in Rarick Hall with a reception. Appetizers and beverages will be served.
The exhibit is sponsored by the FHSU chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). The exhibit runs through Jan. 22.
The vignettes will give a feel of an upscale loft in the city with the theme "Feeel a Modern Edge."
"It was a fun learning experience," said Jordan Gilleece, Preston senior and IIDA president. "This project gave us all a look at what real job offers look like and how to keep it in a budget."
Stephanie Doyle, Concordia senior, and Candelaria Viera, Garden City senior, also worked on sculptures featured in the exhibit.
"Charmion Arthur, instructor of art and design, helped with the planning and execution of the show and Lee Powers, chair of the Department of Art and Design, helped with window treatments and assisted with gallery preparations," said Gileece. "We couldn't have done it without them and the other interior design students from multiple classes."
Community sponsors are The Paisley Pear, Designs and Signs, and Rent-A-Center.
