Smoky Hill Chorale rehearsals
Rehearsals to begin for Smoky Hill Chorale,
but group is still recruiting
The Smoky Hill Chorale, a community choir under the direction of Dr. Terry Crull, assistant professor of music at Fort Hays State University, begins rehearsals Monday, Feb. 4, in Palmer Recital Hall, in Malloy Hall, room 115, on campus.
The chorale features a mixed ensemble of "post-high school voices" from Ellis, Rooks, Rush, Russell and Trego counties, said Crull. The group is open to all experienced singers. No audition is necessary. Openings exist in all sections with a particular need for male voices.
The choir will rehearse from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. most Monday nights in Palmer Recital Hall. In April, the chorale gives a full concert and then joins the FHSU choirs and the Hays Symphony Orchestra for the annual Masterworks Concert in early May.
"We would like the Smoky Hill Chorale to grow significantly," said Crull. "We sing music that is challenging yet very enjoyable, we offer a great social time at each rehearsal, and we present our own spring concert where members can sing solo, duet or small ensemble selections as well as the choir pieces."
