FHSU to host annual majors and graduate programs fair
The fourth annual Fort Hays State University Majors and Graduate Programs Fair will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the Memorial Union's Fort Hays Ballroom.
The event provides students with an opportunity to meet faculty, staff and students from all academic departments in one location to assist in answering academic inquiries. Undecided students can be exposed to the variety of major options available. Students can learn about specific requirements for majors, curriculum and career options.
Students already in a major can learn about minors, certificates, research opportunities and the Graduate School. Faculty and staff from all departments will be available to discuss what their programs have to offer and how students could benefit from minor certificates, internships, research options and career opportunities.
Networking is made easy for students who want to learn how to stand out in a sea of graduates. They can meet faculty and staff from their academic departments and begin building relationships that can turn into job references. They can also meet students with the same interests.
Students who attend may register for prize giveaways, including a Sony Blu-Ray player, Nook Color, a printer, a bean bag chair and various FHSU items.
Students have an opportunity to enter a Facebook trivia contest for a chance to win an FHSU prize. Rules and regulations are posted on the Academic Advising and Career Exploration Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fhsu.aace . Trivia questions are posted each Thursday; answers are accepted until the following Wednesday. The drawing for winners will be at the fair. Winners must attend to collect their prize.
The fair is sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Office of Student Affairs and the Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center.
