Day selected into the Art League of Lincoln's America's ClayFest Show and Competition
For international artists, there were over 360 entries from the United States, Canada and Europe, of which 80 pieces were chosen. The juror, San Francisco area ceramic artist Richard Shaw, selected the pieces that will be on display.
Day majored in graphic design at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. After graduating in 1999, he worked in publishing for more than 10 years as a graphic designer, illustrator and art director. Day helped establish the Sidney, Neb., Fine Art Center, where he taught workshops in ceramics. In 2010, he began graduate school at FHSU and is working toward his Master of Fine Arts degree.
"As a standout in our MFA program, Ned Day has been accepted into a number of prestigious national competitions," said Linda Ganstrom, professor of art and design. "His beautifully crafted and skillfully executed works seek to integrate the rich history of wheel-thrown ceramics into contemporary life in both sculptural and functional forms. His work encourages participation and play."
