'Wings of Desire' to play as part of German Film Series
"Wings of Desire," or "Der Himmel uber Berlin," is scheduled to play at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in Albertson Hall, room 169, as part of the German Film Series presented by the Department of Modern Languages at Fort Hays State University.
The film will be shown in German with English subtitles.
A 1987 romantic fantasy, the film is about invisible, immortal angels who populate Berlin, listen to the thoughts of human inhabitants and comfort those who are in distress. Though the city is densely populated, many people are isolated and estranged from loved ones.
One of the angels falls in love with a beautiful and lonely trapeze artist. The angel chooses to become human so that he can experience human love.
