Fort Hays State University will participate in National Undergraduate Research Week from April 15 through 19, 2013.

Undergraduate Research Week celebrates faculty-mentored research conducted by FHSU undergraduate students over the course of the academic year. Faculty and students from a broad range of disciplines work together to conduct research in education, health, biology, energy, physics, environment, social services and other areas.

The community is invited to view research posters from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, April 15, in the university's Memorial Union Sunset Lounge. These posters were exhibited in the state capitol rotunda as a part of Kansas Undergraduate Research Day.

"Undergraduate research plays a vital role in the learning process by enriching the educational experience," said Leslie Paige, coordinator for the Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Projects. "Undergraduate research experiences encourage critical thinking, nurture intellectual curiosity and spark creativity. Research experience enhances professional and academic credentials to support applications for scholarships, career employment and entry into graduate and professional schools."

She said that FHSU supports research and scholarly activities on campus as part of its mission to advance knowledge, enhance the student learning experience and prepare a workforce with the necessary skills to further the economic growth of the state.
