FHSU student receives Newman Civic Fellow Award
The 2013 Newman Civic Fellow Award was presented to Kelly Nuckolls, El Dorado senior, by Campus Compact of Boston, Mass., for her involvement at Fort Hays State University.
"Nuckolls creates programs and events to involve students and the surrounding community in becoming aware of taking action to combat hunger. Her passion for this work has positioned her as a leader on and off campus," said the award notification from Campus Compact.
Nuckolls has been involved in numerous organizations including the Global Leadership Project, the American Democracy Project, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Universities Fighting World Hunger Eighth Food Summit, Up 'Til Dawn, Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society and the Student Government Association.
The Newman Civic Fellows Award honors 180 inspiring college student leaders across the country who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communication throughout the country.
