FHSU to host banquet for hunger awareness
To raise money for the SWIPE Out Hunger event and awareness of hunger issues around the world, the Fort Hays State University Global Leadership Project will host the third annual Hunger Awareness Banquet at 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Robbins Center.
Rachelle Nebergall, director of events and volunteers, will speak about the current situation and future events.
Participants will draw a card to determine their meal choice. The choices are based on three different income levels. The low-income meal will be a Numana meal, which consists of rice and beans. Middle-income meals will be pizza, and the high-income meals will be a three-course meal catered by Chartwells. All proceeds go towards shipping food in bulk to the Horn of Africa.
The SWIPE Out Hunger packaging event will be from 12 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26.
Tickets for the banquet are $5 and are available by calling 785-628-4497 or by emailing glp@fhsu.edu .
