Season tickets for the Sebelius Lecture Series at Fort Hays State University are still available. This season will feature a debate between former presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Howard Dean in the fall semester and a speech from former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove in the spring.
FHSU students and members of the Hays community are offered a unique opportunity to listen to prominent national leaders speak about current political issues.
"These speakers share their experiences, expertise and wisdom with our students, faculty, staff and surrounding community members." said Vincent Bowhay, assistant director of the Memorial Union-Special Events and Student Activities on the Sebelius Series website at www.fhsu.edu/sebelius.
Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, republican, and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, democrat, will debate "The Proper Role of Government in a Free Society" at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center in Sheridan Hall.
Republican political consultant and policy advisor Karl Rove will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Beach/Schmidt. Rove also served as senior advisor and deputy chief of staff during President George W. Bush's administration.
Season tickets for the Sebelius Lecture Series are separate from FHSU's annual Encore Series.
For the general public, unreserved seats are $30 and reserved seats are $35. Senior citizens, age 65 and older, and those aged 5-17 may purchase unreserved seats for $20 and reserved seats for $25. FHSU students' season ticket prices are $8 for unreserved seats and $18 for reserved seats. Students must provide proof that activity fees have been paid.
Tickets are non-transferable and only one set per student is allowed. Tickets must not be purchased for children 4 years old or younger.
Approximately 200 patrons help sponsor the Sebelius Lecture Series each year. Patrons donate $100 per person and Premiere Patrons donate $150 per person. These donations are tax deductible. Names of Patrons and Premiere Patrons are listed in the program at each event and are invited to attend a luncheon with Howard Dean in the fall and Karl Rove in the spring. Premiere Patrons are given reserved priority seating at Sebelius Luncheons.
