Fort Hays State University's Meetings, Conventions and Event Management class will host a chili contest to benefit Friends of the Hays Dog Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the National Guard Armory, 200 Main, Hays.
Valeria Manriquez, Liberal junior, is in charge of this event. Manriquez encouraged community members to "unleash your favorite chili recipe" to support the Friends of the Hays Dog Park.
Competitors may compete individually or in teams up to five people. The top three teams will receive a prize.
Teams must make chili in a four- to six-quart crockpot and each team must provide their own cooking ware.
Each competitor will be given one free bowl of chili during the contest.
To compete in the contest, contact Manriquez by Thursday, Oct. 31, by phone at 620-655-1289, or by email at v_manriquez@mail.fhsu.edu. Registration is $10.
Admission prices for chili tasters are $5 for adults and $3 for children and students.
