A delegation of faculty members from Fort Hays State University recently presented at two energy conferences, one state and one national.

Dr. Michael Martin, instructor of management and marketing, presented "Business Development Opportunities through 'Behind the Meter' Cogeneration Projects: A Case Study Presentation" at the Kansas Energy Conference on Oct. 1-2 in Manhattan.

The delegation at the Kansas conference also included Dr. Houssain Kettani, professor of informatics, Joseph Chretien, associate professor of applied technology, and Tim Speno, College of Business and Entrepreneurship.

Three people participated in presenting the study in Washington, D.C.: Michael Steinke, executive managing partner for the Wind Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and consultant for the FHSU wind project, Speno, and Martin presented the case study at the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) annual convention from Oct. 12-15.

The wind case study "addresses FHSU's commitment to cost savings through energy management and the FHSU wind project as it relates to industry partnership, sustainability and fiscal responsibility," said Martin. The wind project will save FHSU from $600,000 to $1 million in energy costs annually.
