The Kansas Association of Teachers of Science will host a Next Generation Science Standards mini-conference for Region 5-Northwest Kansas from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, in Rarick Hall, room 231, on the Fort Hays State University campus.
The NGSS Mini-Conference is a free informational forum devoted to helping teachers, administrators and stakeholders collaborate on using the new Kansas science standards in schools.
Matt Krehbiel, KSDE Science Consultant, will conduct a live video conference, and educators will have opportunities to share experiences and questions with regional teachers involved in developing the science standards. Time will be allotted for school teams to develop plans on addressing the new standards.
Participants receive a free KATS membership good through April 2014, which includes access to the KATS website for additional information, links and resources.
There is no cost to participate, but due to space considerations, pre-registration is requested.
