The Fort Hays State University Department of History and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society will present Dr. Norman Caulfield at this semester's Clio Lecture: "Is History Bunk?"

The Clio Lecture -- free and open to the public -- and will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in the Robbins Center on the FHSU campus.

In 1916, when running for president, Henry Ford said it was. Caulfield, professor of history at FHSU, an award-winning author and the 2007 FHSU President's Distinguished Scholar, disagrees. He will explain why knowing about Henry Ford and industrial America is so important for understanding the times in which we live.

In doing so, Caulfield will discuss his next book, which covers deindustrialization, the ongoing economic slump, and its impact on labor and employment, among other topics.

Caulfield, author of "NAFTA and Labor in North America" and former director of research at the NAFTA Labor Secretariat, will also give his insight on the Transpacific Partnership and the Transatlantic Partnership "trade deals" currently in the works.
