FHSU Swine Show team receives top honors at Kansas State Fair

The Swine Show Team at Fort Hays State University received top honors at the Kansas State Fair.
The team took two purebred Yorkshire gilts, young female swine and 3 market barrows, castrated male swine.
"FHSU was very well represented exhibiting the Grand Champion Yorkshire gilt, Reserve Champion Yorkshire Producer and exhibiting the Reserve Champion Market Hog," said the team's faculty advisor, Clay Hamil, swine division manager.
FHSU rounded out the show with the second Overall Barrow and two other hogs receiving second and sixth place.
The show team is organized through Block and Bridle, an animal science organization on the FHSU campus though the Department of Agriculture. The show team competes in shows all over the United States, taking the swine from the University Farm and showing and marketing them to other swine producers.
