11/07/13 bdb
Local art patrons are welcome to attend the annual Art Scholarship Sale, held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, in Rarick Hall on the Fort Hays State University campus.
The sale will feature artwork by students, faculty, alumni and area artists--done in a variety of media such as paintings, prints and drawings as well as handmade books, mugs and cast iron skillets.
Faculty and student participants include Gordon Sherman, professor of art and design; Josh Knott, hometown graduate student; Charmion Arthur, instructor of art and design; and Lee Powers, chair of the Department of Art and Design. Participating local artists are Michael Jilg, Kathleen Kuchar, John C. Thorns and Pete Felten.
The event will include a wood block press in Rarick Hall, room 108, which will imprint any participant's T-shirt with original wood-cut art. The room will also have T-shirts for sale on the spot.
The sale, open to the public, will go to fund art scholarships. The event is sponsored by the FHSU Department of Art and Design.
