The Fort Hays State University chapter of the American Democracy Project will hold a ceremony on Veterans Day to honor those who have served or are currently serving in the military.

The ceremony will begin with a speech by Chris Roberts, junior, and Reed Tevault, senior, the president and vice president of the Student Government Association. Anna Hand, sophomore student coordinator for the American Democracy Project, will talk about the ADP before Tre' Giles, sophomore and student coordinator for the Global Leadership Project, reads the famous John McCrae poem "In Flanders Field." The local Boy Scouts of America Troop will conduct a flag ceremony.

At a table in the Union, participants can write cards to veterans and soldiers in exchange for a poppy flower, the flower being the emblem of Veterans Day as well as a reference to "In Flanders Field."

The ceremony, free and open to the public, will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the Dreiling Lobby of Sheridan Hall on the FHSU campus. The American Democracy Project is supervised by the Center for Civil Leadership.
