FHSU Choirs looking for Dickens Carolers
11/20/13 aja
Fort Hays State University choirs will celebrate this holiday season with a bit of old time cheer and tunes. With Christmas coming soon, Dr. Terry Crull, associate professor of music and theatre, is seeking for volunteers to join the Dickens Carolers this year to help spread musical Christmas joy.
The Dickens Carolers are a group of volunteers who bring in the holiday season with "Jingle Bells" and "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer." Named after the author Charles Dickens, the carolers are students, faculty, staff and community members. The group is modeled after the type of English carolers seen in stories such as "A Christmas Carol."
Many of the gigs that will be performed will be "Y'all come!" and will be open to all interested singers, said Crull, but a select few require only a certain amount of people. Caroling books will be provided. The first performance will be at the tree lighting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, in front of Sheridan Hall.
To be added to the Dickens Carolers or for questions, email Crull at tacrull@fhsu.edu or call 785-628-4258.
