Renowned journalist, author to present for 50th Science Cafe
HAYS, Kan. -- Noted science journalist Chris Mooney will travel to Hays present "The Science of Why We Don't Believe in Science" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, in the Robbins Center on the Fort Hays State University campus.
This special presentation will be the 50th in FHSU's participation in the Science Café project.
The discussion will be on the concept of denialism, or why people won't accept scientific facts for political or personal reasons. Mooney will describe the major findings from his last three years of reporting on the role of the psychological factors in promoting science denial.
Mooney has written several books, including "Unscientific America" and the "Republican War on Science." He has also contributed to a variety of other publications such as Mother Jones, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe.
