FHSU cross country team to host 'Run for the Green' race for community
03/11/14
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a four-mile and a one-mile race and at the same time help the Fort Hays State University cross country team on Saturday, March 15.
The running begins at 9 a.m. at the new Schmidt-Bickle Indoor Training Facility next to Lewis Field Stadium on the FHSU campus.
Proceeds will help the cross country team with uniform purchases and other necessary team gear.
"The 'Run for the Green' course is flat and fast," said Jason McCullough, head cross country coach and assistant track coach. "Runners will also have an amazing opportunity to race inside the new indoor training facility."
Mile markers will be clearly visible on the course, and a water station will be available on the four-mile course.
Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group. The top male and female winners will also receive a $50 cash prize. Award presentation will take place shortly after the race inside the facility.
Registration is $25 per person. Race day registration is available before the race from 7:45-8:45 a.m. Online registration is also available at www.heartlandtiming.com/event/2014/run-for-the-green.
