FHSU Rodeo Club to host 48th annual rodeo competition

Nearly 600 cowboys and cowgirls from across Kansas and Oklahoma will travel to Fort Hays State University to compete in the 48th annual National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) event starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, and running through Saturday, April 19.
The rodeo competition will be at the Doug Phillip Arena, on Golf Course Road just off the U.S. 183 bypass in Hays.
The rodeo will feature a variety of events including bareback riding, tie-down calf roping and breakaway calf roping. The second competition will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The top 10 competitors in each event will compete in a championship round at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Rodeo tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the gate for adults, $5 in advance and $8 at the gate for ages 6-16. Children five and under and FHSU students with student ID are free. Advance tickets may be purchased in Hays at the Student Service Center in the Memorial Union, Orschelns and Vanderbilts.
