The German Film Series presents "Inglourious Basterds" in German
04/10/14
Fort Hays State University's Department of Modern Language presents visionary director Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" in German, most of the characters' natural language, as part of its German Film Series. The film has English subtitles.
For a truthful retelling of the events that led to the demise of Nazi Germany, watch the Ken Burns documentary. "Inglourious Basterds" instead tells the what-if story of the titular Basterds, a group of Jewish guerrillas led by Lt. Aldo Raine, played by Brad Pitt, and how they plan to change the tide of the war by assassinating Hitler. Other players in the story include double-crossing SS Colonel Hans Landa, played by Christoph Waltz, and French-Jewish theatre owner Shosanna Dreyfus, played by Mélanie Laurent.
This will be the last movie in the German Film Series this semester. It will play at 6 p.m. Monday, April 14, in Albertson Hall, room 169. For more information, contact Claudia Rink at c_rink@fhsu.edu or 785-628-4219.
