43 students selected as orientation leaders to help new FHSU students get acclimated
04/18/14
Forty-three students were chosen from a pool of 75 applicants and will serve Fort Hays State University as orientation leaders for the 2014 spring and fall semesters.
These students will help freshman and transfer students and their families become more familiar with the FHSU campus and with available student resources the school has to offer. They will also help create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for new students, assist in the enrollment process and answer questions.
The requirements to become an OL include having a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a department or faculty recommendation. The applicants must have attended at least two full semesters at FHSU, including the current semester. They must also be returning students who have demonstrated good academics, communication skills and an interest in working with new students.
Orientation leaders must attend two training sessions, work the four Tiger pre-enrollment sessions in the spring and New Student Orientation activities in August.
Students are listed by hometown with major and classification. ZIP codes are included for the convenience of the papers that use them to guide placement.
