Dr. Roger Schieferecke, associate director for student services for the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science at Fort Hays State University, recently published "Helping Males Succeed in College," in the College Student Affairs Journal.
Schieferecke discusses male students' perceptions of mattering and marginalization during their college experiences.
"The article provides insight into the male experience of mattering and marginalization, which directly relates to retention and persistence of college students," he said. "The article identifies strategies for college personnel to instill those perceptions of mattering in students -- thus assisting their matriculation through college."
Dr. Karen Card, associate professor of adult and higher education from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, was co-author.
