Dr. Kathy Dale, Maret Schrader and Clayton Schrader will present "Problem-Based Learning and Technology: Connecting College and Career Readiness Standards," on Friday, June 27, in Rarick Hall, room 201, on the Fort Hays State University Campus.

The workshop is sponsored by the Kansas Center for Innovative Education, in the College of Education and Technology at FHSU. KCIE provides tools for creative and critical thinking in the fields of manufacturing, technology and education.

"This will be such a valuable experience for our participants," said Dale. They will learn practical technology applications directly from teachers who are in the field using problem-based learning."

Dale, a retired assistant professor of educational administration and counseling at FHSU and assistant dean of the College of Education and Technology, remains involved as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Advance Education Programs. Her specialties include problem based learning, leadership, and strategic planning.

Maret Schrader is a freshman language arts teacher at Seaman High School, Topeka, and Clayton Schrader is fourth-grade teacher at West Indianola Elementary, Topeka. They will help demonstrate the technology component.

In the afternoon seminar, participants will practice what they have learned and receive direct help from the presenters in a one-on-one environment.

The workshop will look at the educational benefits of many technology platforms, including iMovie, Garage Band, Audacity, Moodle, Schoology, Google Drive and Prezi.

Lunch and refreshments are included in the $90 workshop fee, due Friday, June 20. Registration for college credit should completed no later than Friday, June 13.
