Dr. Robert Moody, associate professor of advanced education programs at Fort Hays State University, will present "Google Chrome Apps: Benefits for Schools," Monday, July 21 in Rarick Hall, room 201.

After 15 years in public K-12 education, Moody joined FHSU's Department of Advanced Educational Programs teaching future teachers, principals and superintendents.

As a Virtual College instructor, he describes himself as a people person who thrives on real-time visual stimulation. With something as simple as an inexpensive webcam and an Internet connection, Moody is able to create a social, teaching and cognitive presence with his students.

The workshop is sponsored by the Kansas Center for Innovative Education, an entity of FHSU's College of Education and Technology. KCIE provides tools for creative and critical thinking in the fields of manufacturing, technology and education.

The workshop, available for college credit, will feature various free instructional apps that work well with the Kansas College and Career Readiness Standards and specific content areas.

The standards are designed to ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to go to college or enter the workforce and that parents, teachers and students have a clear understanding of what is expected of them.

Various free instructional apps will be introduced and demonstrated. Participants will have opportunities to ask or share how specific apps can meet their students' needs.

A Google+ community will be set up to provide ongoing support well after the workshop has concluded.

Lunch and refreshments are included in the $90 workshop fee, due Monday, July 14. Registration for college credit should be completed no later than Monday, July 7.
