FHSU Alumni Association to host homecoming activities
10/08/14
A full slate of activities will be available for Tigers of all ages as the FHSU Alumni Association welcomes alumni and friends to Hays for Homecoming 2014 "Once Upon a Time in Tigerland."
Activities begin on Thursday morning with the sold-out Tiger Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament. Although the tournament is full, community members are invited to stop by Smoky Hill Country Club starting at 9:30 a.m. to bid on a wide variety of silent auction items. Proceeds from both events will provide scholarships for area students.
Later on Thursday, the Post Rock Alumni & Friends Chapter will host a social in the Robbins Center prior to the sixth annual Tiger Bonfire and Pep Rally. A limited number of walk-up tickets will be available for the social.
On Friday, members of the Class of 1964 will be inducted in the Half Century Club, while members of the 60-year reunion class of 1954 are also honored. Later that evening, the Alumni & Friends Awards & Recognition Banquet will celebrate the achievements of alumni award recipients.
Saturday kicks off early with the Tiger 5K Run/Walk at the Robbins Center. Later, the public is invited to participate in the dedication of Hammond Hall and the Dole Sisters Lobby with Dr. Edward Hammond and former U.S. senator and presidential candidate Robert Dole. Sen. Dole will also serve as grand marshal of the Homecoming Parade through downtown Hays.
Prior to the Homecoming football game versus Missouri Western, the Tiger Friends and Family Picnic will feature delicious tailgate food and live music just outside Lewis Field Stadium.
Scattered throughout the weekend are activities for five reunion groups: Class of 1954, Class of 1964, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, the Department of Allied Health, and Alpha Gamma Delta.
For information on any of these activities, please contact the FHSU Alumni Association at 785-628-4430, alumni @fhsu.edu or http://goforthaysstate.com/homecoming2014
