Mariah Cote, Cozad, Neb., sophomore at Fort Hays State University, is the 2014 recipient of the Tourism Industry Association of Kansas Scholarship.

The scholarship, awarded to a student who participates in the annual Kansas Tourism Conference, covers the student's cost of attending the conference.

"We had opportunities to listen to speakers that were involved with convention and visitors bureau and other tourism fields," said Cote.

"The conference was an excellent experience in noticing and experiencing a different side of Kansas and the tourism business."
