One of 5 finalists for FHSU provost position withdraws, search committee adds Dr. Santos-Hatchett
01/21/15
Dr. Sheryl L. Santos-Hatchett has been added to the slate of finalists who will visit the campus of Fort Hays State University to interview for the vacant provost position.
FHSU is organized into three divisions -- Student Affairs; Administration and Finance; and Academic Affairs -- and the provost, as chief academic officer, leads the Division of Academic Affairs. Dr. Chris Crawford has been serving as provost on an interim basis since October 2013.
The search committee learned that one of the original five finalists, Dr. Cynthia Pemberton, deputy provost, University of Missouri-Kansas City, was withdrawing for personal reasons.
Dr. Santos-Hatchett, founding dean of the Division of Education and Human
Services at the University of North Texas at Dallas, was named as a finalist today in place of Dr. Pemberton. She joins the other four finalists named previously: Dr. Graham Glynn, vice provost and executive dean of college-wide programs, Mercy College, New York City; Dr. John P. Ronnau, dean, College of Health Sciences & Human Services, University of Texas-Pan American, Edinburg, Texas; Dr. Gersham Nelson, dean, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg; and Dr. John Ryder, vice president for academic affairs and provost, American University of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
Each of the finalists will meet with various individuals and groups during their visits on the Hays campus. Those meetings will include a media interview session and three general sessions. Alumni and members of the general public are welcome to attend the Campus Open Forums. With Dr. Santos-Hatchett replacing Dr. Pemberton, here is the updated schedule:
