HAYS, Kan. -- Music faculty from Shenyang Normal University, Shenyang, China, will bring traditional Chinese folk songs and European music to the Hays community in a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the Fort Hays State University campus.
The faculty members will give the concert as part of their visit to the university's Department of Music and Theatre. The faculty members will visit classes and rehearsals, meet the provost and dean and music instructors and attend the FHSU band and choir concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in Beach/Schmidt.
"We want them to see the broad range of educational opportunities here," said Ben Cline, chair of the department.
The Chinese musicians will use their experience at FHSU to determine whether to recommend that Chinese students study here as part of a partnership that will also allow FHSU students to study in China.
