HAYS, Kan. - Dr. Robert Moody, associate professor of advanced education programs at Fort Hays State University, has been named the recipient of the Innovation in Teaching Award for the 2016 Summer Institute on Distance Learning and Instructional Technology.
Moody received the award for his innovations in online teaching. He works frequently with the Google platform and has been using his own GooPLE (Google Personal Learning Environment) since 2011.
"Receiving this award shows me that the work I've done is being validated by organizations beyond Fort Hays State," said Moody.
Personal learning environments are an online resource that allows students to create an online learning atmosphere best suited to their individual needs. Since 2011, more than 30 FHSU professors have used PLEs to teach more than 13,000 students.
The summer institute, known as SIDLIT, is sponsored by Colleague to Colleague, a professional association of faculty, staff and administrators from Kansas and Missouri.
Moody will be recognized at the SIDLIT conference Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 at Johnson County Community College.
