In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month, the Fort Hays State University Military Friendly Committee and the FHSU chapter of Technology Education and Engineering Collegiate Association created the 22 Boots Display. A 2010 study done by the Department of Veterans Affairs stated that every day 22 of our nation's veterans take their own lives. Each pair of boots displayed represents a veteran who commits suicide. The purpose of this display is to raise awareness about a serious issue that faces our nation's military and veteran communities. The display is located in the Forsyth Library lobby and will be displayed through the month of September.
