HAYS, Kan. -- The Hays Symphony Orchestra has announced cancellation of the concerts scheduled for March 11 and April 1 in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the Fort Hays State University campus.
Benjamin Cline, chair of the Department of Music and Theatre at FHSU, said temporary but lengthy and unavoidable absences of three faculty members this year has stretched time and resources for the remaining faculty.
"We decided to cancel these two events because we simply could not do everything we wanted this year in the situation we are facing," he said.
The symphony will hold its May 6 concert in conjunction with the FHSU Choirs. Additional information about future programming is available through the symphony's e-newsletter and Facebook page (search for Hays Symphony Orchestra in Facebook). A button to sign up for the newsletter is on the page.
