FHSU student earns top honors from student business organization

HAYS, Kan. -- Allison Railsback, a Mankato freshman majoring in agricultural business at Fort Hays State University, recently received recognition at the Kansas Phi Beta Lambda Awards of Excellence Program in Sterling. Railsback competed in business communication, sales presentation, business presentation and business decision making, bringing home first place in all events. She placed third in public speaking.
Railsback was also recognized as a Kansas PBL Who's Who recipient for her outstanding service to Kansas PBL and for completing the director level of the Career and Membership Achievement Program, which is a national program that requires members to participate in numerous leadership, recruitment and professional development exercises.
Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., the premier student-led business organization, is a nonprofit education association. With a quarter-million members and advisers in over 6,500 active middle school, high school and college chapters worldwide, its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
As the Kansas PBL state president for the 2017-2018 academic year, she will be responsible for overseeing all state activities, including the fall and state leadership conferences, leading state board meetings, working with other colleges to charter PBL chapters, recruiting members and attending business conferences.
Railsback will compete at the National Leadership Conference this summer in Anaheim, Calif.
