HAYS, Kan. – The Department of Applied Technology at Fort Hays State University, recently traveled to Cincinnati to attend the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) conference.
Six faculty members represented FHSU in the final step of an ATMAE accreditation process.
Kim Stewart, chair of the department, and Kenny Rigler, accreditation coordinator, answered final review questions on the ATMAE accreditation board.
“With little discussion from the ATMAE site team leader, the board voted unanimously to accept the motion to accredit FHSU’s Bachelor of Science in technology studies and the degree’s four industrial concentrations,” said Stewart.
“ATMAE is an ongoing improvement process,” said Stewart. “The construction, manufacturing and engineer-design technology students are the beneficiaries of this external accreditation,” he said.
Company partners can now hire applied technology graduates from an ATMAE accredited program of study.
“According to the ATMAE website, FHSU is the first program in Kansas to have an ATMAE accredited program,” said Stewart.
