Hays Symphony Orchestra to host Winter Vespers Concert

HAYS, Kan. – The Hays Symphony Orchestra, led by Shah Sadikov, assistant professor of music and theatre at Fort Hays State University, will give its Winter Vespers Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. John Catholic Church in Hays.
The concert will feature Elliott Carter’s “Elegy for Strings,” Ennio Morricone’s “Gabriel’s Oboe” and John Tavener’s “Protecting Veil.” Soloists are Kay Werth, instructor of music and theatre, on oboe; Dr. Kristin Pisano, associate professor of music and theatre, on clarinet; and Ben Cline, chair of the Department of Music and Theatre, on cello.
Sadikov will also host a pre-concert talk, beginning at 7 p.m. in the church. The Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau will provide refreshments after the concert.
The event is free and open to the public. Tickets will be available in the church lobby starting at 7 p.m. or can be reserved in advance at the Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau or by emailing hayssymphony@fhsu.edu.
